How long do you need to stay home after coming into close contact with someone who has COVID-19?
Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 should stay home for 14 days after their last exposure to that person.
How long after symptoms begin will I continue to be contagious with COVID-19?
Available data indicates that persons with mild to moderate COVID-19 remain infectious no longer than 10 days after symptom onset. Persons with more severe to critical illness or severe immunocompromise likely remain infectious no longer than 20 days after symptom onset.
What are some symptoms of COVID-19?
People with COVID-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms, ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms may include: fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea.
When are people who had COVID-19 no longer contagious?
You can be around others after: 10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.
